They have also collaborated with other artists such as Airstrike and Pink Flamingo MG, the trio producing an album entitled ‘Survive‘, and more information about their compilations and collaborations can be found below.   • This is the second of Back-on’s latest forthcoming singles released at the same time as flower.
  • Butterfly is the ending theme song for the new drama series 新宿スワン (Shinjuku Swan), which has been adapted from a popular manga, and being the first TV theme tune written by Back-on, it is very upbeat and predominantly electronic.
  • Like flower, there is also mention of a special t-shirt that was available during their first ever solo live recording - either included with the CD (?) or a discount voucher.
  • The original Drive was released as part of the New World album.

  • This is Back-on’s latest forthcoming single released at the same time as butterfly.
  • The song flower is the new ending theme for the anime Eyeshield 21 (from Episode 116). Colors is the current theme of the show Tokyo Mayokara.
  • The CD has extra bonus contents in the form of PVs, but am not sure at the moment if this means a full PV or just clips promoting each song

  • Both “BLAZE LINE/A day dreaming…” will be used in the new season of the anime Eyeshield 21 - the former as the ED (ending theme) and the latter as the OP (opening theme) Both are meant to inspire hope and dreams in the listener.   • 鼓動 (Kodou) is the main theme of TV Tokyo’s Mayokara, which is a TV programme broadcast on Thursday nights between 2:00am ~ 2:15am. Mayokara’s own website mentions that Kodou was picked in a draw, and it seems you might be able to send in for a CD… at any rate, here’s the original Japanese message:

  • The title for Lucky? is written in upside down and reversed katakana. Imagine trying to say Lucky backwards!

  • There’s not much information about this CD aside from the fact it was only available at one of Back-on’s performance venues. The two songs, Forward and Soul Shout were both later included in the tracklisting of Adachi Tribe and Hero respectively.

Compilations and Collaborations

Back-on has also worked with other artists, especially in the earlier days of their career. The list includes mix compilations, which featured Back-on’s own songs (including OSTs), as well as collaborations with other artists for their albums. A number of releases were only available from the venue itself, or had a very limited print run, so only a small number were produced.

  • The second OST; where they made sure we were all happy this time by providing the highly popular ‘background’ music featured in the anime, including the 8 mini-remixes of Chain by SkankFunk.
  • Back-on doesn’t strictly feature in this album, which is fully credited to SkankFunk. But we are including it here with thanks to Steve Harrell of Avex for kindly (and gently) pointing out that we had omitted the OSTs.
  • The two-disc compilation comes with a CD and a DVD.

  • The compilation features Grab, a song not found on any of Back-on’s own albums, but was also included in BASTA LA FESTA - sun side up-.
  • In addition, this version of Hikari Sasuhou is very different to the one found in the New World album, and could be seen as the original version of Hikari Sasuhou. The song lyrics have changed a little, and the recent Hikari Sasuhou (FK Metal ver.), which featured as the OP for the anime OAV - Murder Princess, actually uses the same lyrics and music, but with improved effects and singing. ^^
  • In future, you will see this version being referred to (on this site) as either Hikari Sasuhou (Survive ver.) or the ‘predecessor’ of Hikari Sasuhou (FK Metal ver.)
