Murder Princess OVA OST – Hikari Sasuhou (FK Metal ver.) TV-Size mp3!
Ever since we posted about the official release of the Murder Princess OVA OST, we’ve been checking on Nipponsei on a daily basis to see if we could find the official TV-size version of Hikari Sasuhou (FK Metal ver.) which was used as the OP of the straight-to-video anime, and it is definitely one of the most popular songs by Back-on!
I’m happy to say that the soundtrack is now available on Nipponsei, but not before Yakhobian of CrystalNova kindly emailed us with his copy of the song, so a big thanks to Yakhobian for sharing the file! You may recall that this is the same Yakhobian-san who originally provided us all with the original recording of Hikari Sasuhou (FK Metal ver)!
You can find the download below, and if you’re interested in singing along to the lyrics or finding out what they mean, take a look at the Lyrics, which have also been kindly provided by Yakhobian too! :)

Back-on’s TV Size mp3s for Air Gear, Murder Princess and Eyeshield 21
I read somewhere that it’s good for sites to do summary posts sometimes, and although I’ve been tempted to try it several times, it’s taken me a while to think of a good summary theme to post about!
This is actually sort of in-conjunction with Sowon‘s Back-on Music Competition on the Forums, where each time, participants have to sing one particular song (TV size version) from Back-on‘s repetoire. (Please consider entering the competition, minna! :D) Usually, it does help to ‘record’ with the song in question playing in the background, which brings me to the main topic:
where can I find TV size mp3s of Back-on‘s songs?
It would probably be helpful to first provide a list of the songs, so without further ado in the order of Anime Title | Type | Song Title :
Anime Title | Type | Song Title |
---|---|---|
Air Gear | OP | Chain |
Murder Princess (OVA) | OP | ヒカリサスホウ Hikari Sasuhou (FK Metal ver.) |
Eyeshield 21 | OP | BLAZE LINE |
Eyeshield 21 | ED | a day dreaming… |
Aside from Chain, most of the mp3s are available for download somewhere on Back-on Online, and since this is a summary post, you can find the direct-links to the posts in question below:
But where can you find Chain? This only happens to be one of the most popular Back-on songs ever. The answer is simple: visit Japtard.com. Or more specifically,
view the post Air Gear OST – What a Groovy Trick!
You can the entire OST available for download (at 320kbps) – either as a zip file, or individual mp3 files. Chain (TV Size) is the first song on the 34-track album. The download has kindly been provided by Frox, who has credited Nipponsei for the original release.
Hopefully this post will be helpful to those searching for ‘that’ opening/ending theme by Back-on. Almost every single one so far also has their corresponding lyrics posted on the site somewhere, so take a look at the Lyrics section if you’re interested, particularly if you’d like to participate in the competition!

BACK-ON – BLAZE LINE | Lyrics
Out of all the songs on the single, BLAZE LINE/a day dreaming…, BLAZE LINE probably uses the most English (particularly for the rap part sung by TEEDA) and it’s obvious that it was written for the American-football anime, Eyeshield 21, evident from the lyrics as well as the interlude with cheerleaders.
The song also features an interesting bridge where Kenji03 actually sings along with TEEDA in ENGLISH! This probably has happened before, but I was particularly struck by this one! All in all, BLAZE LINE is a great song, and imho, the TV size OP just do it justice, although the opening credits are pretty good!
As always, if you spot any mistakes, please let me know either by commenting below or via the contact form. If you would like to post these lyrics elsewhere, please link back to this page. :)

Murder Princess OAV OST due out on June 27th 2007!
The original news came courtesy of Sowon a little while ago, and there are now only 2 more days until the release of the Murder Princess OST!
If you’re wondering why this is so significant, this is Back-on wrote/performed the OP, which is a variation of their own release ヒカリサスホウ (Hikari Sasuhou). The released track is undeniably one of Back-on‘s most popular songs, and the new variation is known as
ヒカリサスホウ Hikari Sasuhou (fk Metal ver.)
The OST (AVCA26256) is set to retail at ¥3059, and will feature 43 tracks, most of which will be the anime’s BGM. Unfortunately (as with most anime OSTs) the CD will only feature the TV size versions of both the OP and the ED.
The ED, Naked Flower, is sung by Romi Paku (who voices Alita Forland, the main character) and the full version is already available on CD.
Alas to-date, Back-on have yet to release a full version of ヒカリサスホウ Hikari Sasuhou (fk Metal ver.), which has slightly different lyrics to their album version. The closest release that we’ve been able to find was actually from a compilation album Survive, and you can find out more information about it in the First Glance: ‘Survive’ compilation post. We’ve decided to christen it as the
ヒカリサスホウ Hikari Sasuhou (Survive ver.)
which BOO provided for visitors to download last week. In case you want to listen to the fk Metal ver. before June 27th 2007, you can download a video-rip of the song courtesy of Yakhobian, which you can find here.
We will be providing an OST mp3 of the of ヒカリサスホウ Hikari Sasuhou (fk Metal ver.) in a few days courtesy of Nipponsei, so please watch this space! :)
p/s: Murder Princess OAV Volume 4 is also released on DVD on the same day!

Air Gear OST II – Who Wants More Groovy Trick!!?? – Chain (Short) Instrumental Remix Extravaganza
The Air Gear opening theme – Chain is one of the songs that introduced *lots* of people (including yours truly) to the wonderful band that we all know as Back-on, and since reading the interview by JaME, I’ve become intrigued by the idea of remixes, since Back-on have said that they would like to:
where DUB is apparently a form of Jamaican music with reggae origins. To bring this into context, Back-on‘s name was given by Jesse of the Japanese metal, reggae and rap band RIZE. :)
So how does this all relate to the Air Gear OST II?
I have to confess that I haven’t actually seen the anime Air Gear beyond Episode 1, because I became a bit too obsessed intrigued by Back-on to continue watching it, but listening to the second OST (original sound track) is really helping to change my mind!
The first OST (original sound track) “What a Groovy Trick!” was hailed as a great album, but for fans of the show, it appears to have lacked the instrumental versions of Chain used throughout the anime.
The producers haven’t made the same mistake twice, and the second OST “Who wants More Groovy Trick!!??” features 8 (short but) different instrumental remix versions of Chain by Skankfunk! And in all honesty, I love them all!
You can see the track-listing below (courtesy of Wikipedia):
