Translation: Sand of time - Lyrics (English) by TV-Nihon

As you all (should) know by now, Sands of time is the ED of the TV series ケータイ捜査官7 (Keitai Sousakan 7) so it was gratifying to find a fansub group, #TV-Nihon, dedicated to the drama! The best part is they have also taken the time to translate and sub the Sands of time PV (which you can download - in addition to the episodes - from their forums) and you can watch it on Youtube courtesy of Vanalovas.

However, the biggest thank you must go to Takenoko of TV-Nihon (who we contacted after seeing the forum post by BenBoomZ) who has very kindly allowed us to post their translation of Sands of time on Back-on Online!

So without further ado…

Back-on working on theme music for new PSP game “Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2″!

Hisashiburi! :D I hope everyone is enjoying their summer! Back-on have certainly been actively blogging about their various activities this month, but it turns out they’re now also working on the main theme music for the upcoming PSP (Playstation Portable) game by Namco Bandai called “Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2“!

Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2

The news was posted on the band’s official site earlier in the week, and the information was further confirmed by an article on GPara.com (scroll to almost the end of the article) which mentioned Back-0n (and posted the band’s group photo as well!) and seemed to say that Light and Wind would be the key themes for the song. I don’t think this will be a difficult task for the band at all, because a lot of their music *does* follow this philosophy!

You can watch the promotional trailer for the game on the official website, and although I don’t own a PSP, there already seems to be quite a bit of hype from the major PSP-gaming sites such as: PSP Fanboy and PSPHyper, where the latter also includes extra screenshots in a later post.

However, for a more introductory approach to the new continuation of the Tales of the World series, the best place to visit is probably the Wikipedia entry. No official release date has been announced yet, but the plan is for Winter 2008. Of course, this is great news for us Back-on fans - it means we have something good to look forward to! :)

Sound Ex - Back-on Official Street Team - Website relaunched!

We’ve been meaning to write up the news of the Sound EX website relaunch for weeks now, and so in the gap between (attempted) exam revision, we would like to congratulate Sound EX for their amazing redesign!

Screenshot of new Sound EX website!

The redesign and coding has been the brainchild and work of Sesshy, and is inspired by the cover of Back-on’s latest single Sands of time. I really like this new design, as it looks very sleek and clean, and is extremely easy to navigate, so kudos to Sesshy for doing such a great job! I am very glad she decided to retain the grungy font from the original site as well :)

In addition to this makeover, a new intro flash to the website has also been released, featuring photos of Back-on from their latest photo shoot and Sands of time playing in the background. Unfortunately (as before) we haven’t been able to include screenshots of the flash animation on their front page, and so it is best enjoyed by visiting the Sound EX website yourself!

If you like the relaunch of Sound EX, why not write a comment on their guestbook and let Nao and Sesshy know? :)

Video interview with Back-on by MTV Taiwan, now subtitled!

This news comes a little late (almost a year!) after Back-on’s visit to Taiwan for their international debut in Asia for Formoz Festival 2007. The original video was uploaded by gangangan03, and as it was in mandarin (and Japanese!) it was only accessible to those familiar with the language.

With thanks to gangangan03 for his kind permission, we have now translated the interview clip and added subtitles to the original, which is now available on Youtube as a video response!

This is our first attempt at translating an interview clip, so if you do spot any errors or anything else that we can change or improve, please let us know! :) You can watch the subtitled version by clicking here or after the cut.

Interview questions included:

What were your thoughts about the whole event (Formoz Festival)?
Was there anything that stood out in particular?
Have you done anything interesting whilst you’ve been in Taiwan?
Do you have any weird habits?

Apparently icchan eats a lot (especially whilst on the phone) and Kenji03 likes sticking out his tongue!

Hope you enjoy watching the interview, and please do let us know what you think! :)

Lyrics: Sands of time

Sands of time, the title track of the single (umm… Sands of time) is also the ED of the Japanese drama ケータイ捜査官7 (Keitai Sousakan 7) and the band did a fantastic PV for the song that you can watch in full on Youtube courtesy of gangangan03, or if you want the subbed version of the PV, check out the release by #TV-Nihon, which was uploaded by Vanalovas.

And the long awaited lyrics are finally here! We have to thank rageguy for posting the romaji version on the Forums, and he kindly allowed us to post them here! The usual kanji, hiragana and karaoke versions are now also available (August 3rd 2008!)

We’re experimenting a little this time, and posting the lyrics (as per the original) without the usual dividing brackets. It would be great if you could let us know what you thought!

As always, if you spot any mistakes, please let me know either by commenting below or via the contact form. If you would like to post these lyrics elsewhere, please link back to this page. :)

“Sands of time” out today!

After the unbearably long wait (their last single release was in September 2007!) Back-on’s brand new single Sands of time is finally out today! :)

Alas I haven’t yet heard any of the new songs on the tracklisting (apart from the title track Sands of time) but according to the initial feedback by Meji (who received her CD the day before the release date!) Back-on have apparently out-done themselves with the new songs!

Meji mentions in one of her posts that the songs were:

“Not really more focused on the rock side. message for kidz is very catchy, and the fifty/50 one, I would say that song would be their best one, b/c on the lyrics and listening to the song itself the same time; it comes out like a story, I’m guessing it would be life in the Adachi District where they grew up.

And in fact, Icchan wrote a little bit more about message for kidz and fifty/50 in his latest blog entry (they’re really looking forward to feedback by the way!) where he says that:

fifty/50 will be a nice surprise to those who listen to Back-on’s songs, as it is very different and will be the first time the band have experimented with this style. Teeda sings solo (I think he might be might even be the only singer?) for this quite ‘hip-hop’ song, and the lyrics really demonstrate the conflict that Teeda feels within his heart.”

Icchan also elaborates on message for kidz (parts of which I didn’t understand very well either) where he seems to say:

“The song isn’t just for the stereotypical children or ‘kids’, as everyone is or has been a kid at one point. message for kidz is dedicated to cheering-on anyone who has worked hard to overcome their hurdles and move forward, step-by-step, towards the future. Hopefully, kids who are kids, or people who were kids will listen to this song and feel energised!”

I’m very much hoping I haven’t misinterpreted Icchan’s words (any corrections, please please do let me know!) too much, but hopefully it will give everyone a rough idea of the background of these two new songs. ^^

And before I forget: a big thanks to Meji for the first review of the single! :) I can’t wait to get my hands on my copy, but in the meantime, I will keep scouring the internet for any previews!

“Sands of Time” preview on Myspace (and titles of other tracks on the single posted too!)

With thanks to both Sesshy and the Back-on Facebook Group for the news, Back-on have posted a 50-second preview of Sands of Time on their official Myspace! The great thing about this preview is that it seems to be from the start of the song, where as Sesshy put it, Kenji03 sings with an electronic voice :)

We also get to hear the first verse+rap, and I have to say, I love the introduction to the song! If you haven’t heard it already, you really seriously must. I demand kindly request it. :p Incredibly catchy imho!

In addition to the preview, the band have also posted the titles of the other two tracks that will be released along with Sands of Time on May 21st 2008, so the final tracklisting for the single is as follows:

  1. Sands of Time (ED for “Keitai Sousakan 7“)
  2. message for kidz
  3. fifty/50

And before I forget, for those who can’t access their Myspace, we have of course done the usual mp3 rip for you to download which you can find below. Enjoy! And let us know what you think of the preview too! :)

New single “Sands of Time” cover design released!

The news was first announced a few days ago on Back-on’s official blog as part of a blog entry by the band’s drummer, Icchan, and you can see it for yourself below!

Sands of Time (Single)

The design was actually quite different to what we had expected on the discussion thread on the forums, where members kindly (and enthusiastically) threw in their suggestions :) What do you think of it? The general consensus so far that people really like it!

Back-on then followed up this ’sneak-peak’ by officially announcing the release of their new single on their official website, where they confirmed the May 21st 2008 release date. They also posted that the single (in line with their other single releases to date) will have 3 tracks, but so far, the only known title is the title track Sands of Time.

In addition, the band have also changed their Myspace profile picture for the occasion, which features Teeda wearing a necktie! :) You can see the image itself after the ‘cut’ (click on Read more…) but it is unfortunately a little small, so we can’t see much detail as yet, which is a pity! Hopefully they’ll release some larger pictures soon!

p/s: The news release regarding the new cover design and Myspace picture (see below the cut) has come courtesy of Sesshy via the Sands of Time + Keitai Sousakan 7 discussion thread! Thank you! :D

p/s2: Don’t forget you can download the TV Size version mp3-rip of Sands of Time from BOO!

About this entry

BOO and BOO Forums are now officially one year old!

We celebrate our very first birthday today!

It’s official! :D We are now a proud one year old website baby who has started walking on its own two feet! As mentioned in our previous post about our birthday celebrations, we will be spending the next few days:

  • showcasing a series of special fan submissions (Thank you everyone!)
  • bringing you unique multimedia never seen on this site (or anywhere else?) before
  • giving you a potted history about the site
  • posting more sites updates
  • launching a brand new layout on the Forums (and later on the whole site)!

And well, before I started drafting this entire series, I was full of ideas about what I was going to write, but writer’s block decided to rear its dreaded head, and now I’m feeling a little stuck (especially with the server downtime less than an hour ago which decided to eat up my first draft!) so I’ll pause here and say: watch this space please!

Screenshot of New Forum Theme!Don’t forget you can always subscribe to our email newsletter, that sends you an email everytime there is a new post on the site. And as this is the birthday of our very special Forums, feel free to mosey over there for even more up-to-date posts!

p/s: And we’ve already launched the brand new forum theme with it’s brand new header by Sesshy! Take a look on the right! :D

Download the TV size version of Sands of Time as an mp3!

With thanks to XrayMind from the D-Addicts Forum, we’ve been able to get hold of a good quality raw video of the first ever episode of ケータイ捜査官7 (Keitai Sousakan 7)! We haven’t watched it yet (but the start and end do look promising!) but we have done an audio rip/transcode of the last minute of the file; which, of course is the ending sequence featuring Sands of Time!

The mp3 is encoded at 320kbps (as usual) using MediaCoder. Hope you all enjoy listening to the song!
