Lyrics: Butterfly
It’s been a while since we’ve posted new lyrics on the BOO site, and as we gear up for the forthcoming release of ‘ONE STEP!/Tomorrow never knows, it’s time for ‘a step’ back in time to one of BACK-ON’s earlier releases called ‘Butterfly‘!
This is definitely one of my most favourite BACK-ON songs, although at the time of its release, the song certainly caused some concern amongst the fans that preferred the ‘rock’ side of the band, as it had a very ‘electronic dance’ feel to it. A PV was never released for the song, and it was promoted on TV with a 15-second CM featuring Kenji03 against an urban backdrop, fitting as the song was the ending theme for the TV series Shinjuku Swan.
As usual, you can find the lyrics below (after the cut-off) with the original kanji, romaji and karaoke versions of the lyrics as well! If you haven’t heard the song yet, visit our Music page and scroll to the end for our pop-out radio and listen to it.
By the way, we do occasionally amend the spelling of the original English lyrics if we believe it to be appropriate. But as always, if you spot any mistakes, please let us know either by commenting below or via the contact form.
Finally, if you would like to post these lyrics elsewhere, please kindly link back to this page. :)

BACK-ON’s new single ‘ONE STEP!/Tomorrow never knows’ out on January 27th 2010!
BACK-ON will be releasing a new single called ‘ONE STEP!/Tomorrow never knows‘ in January 2010!
It’s been a while since we’ve posted news on the BOO website, and we are very glad to be bringing you this fantastic update, as this is the first single release since ‘flyaway‘, which was released way back in January 2009.
The single will feature 2 songs: ONE STEP! feat. mini and Tomorrow Never Knows, and is due out on January 27th 2010, with an RRP of ¥1,050.
Two of our most favourite websites have been very receptive of new single suggestions, so you can now pre-order the single from:
amongst others. It is probably worth bearing in mind that purchasing from YesAsia and CDJapan will contribute towards BACK-ON’s Oricon rankings, but Play-Asia is currently offering 10% off the listed price (sale price shown above) so after postage and packaging, it might be slightly cheaper. 10% discount is no longer on offer so may or may not be cheaper*
I certainly have high hopes for the single. Tomorrow never knows has already been used as the background theme music for the DyDo coffee TV commercial and in case you haven’t heard it yet, you can watch the 30 second CM in full or below courtesy of jr77355.
In the meantime, we do know that BACK-ON are currently preparing for their 2 forthcoming live gigs in Taiwan on the 26th and 27th of December, at Taichung’s SOUND LIVE HOUSE and Taipei’s THE WALL LIVE HOUSE respectively.
You can see the special promotional poster below:
BACK-ON will be supported by local bands such as LAZY LADY, OverDose, Broken Flowers (碎紙花), and Solidor(固定客) (Solidor’s Blog).
Last but not least, Kenji03 and the band members are here to promote their mini ‘tour’ on Youtube. The video is courtesy of MONSTERSNITE and we get to hear Kenji03 speak some quality mandarin! :)

Official BACK-ON photos from SUMMER SONIC 2009
A very short post today as it’s all about the photos: when BACK-ON performed this evening (7th August 2009) on the Garden Stage of SUMMER SONIC 2009 in Osaka!
These photos are from the official live report and I really wish there were more! Loved TEEDA’s hoodie top by the way:
And this is a map of the entire venue – BACK-ON was right in the heart of everything!
Icchan and Kenji03 certainly look as though they were enjoying themselves (see Icchan’s full blog post):
Finally, to give you an idea of what the atmosphere is like at this massive music festival, take a look at the official Attractions & Audience photos and videos from Osaka – we’ve included a few below:

‘Tales of’ Festival DVD will feature BACK-ON’s live performance of Re:Start and flyaway!
Following on from our previous post about BACK-ON’s live gig at the 2009 Tales of Festival, it turns out that Namco Bandai will be releasing a 2-disc DVD of the event for fans on October 2nd 2009, featuring BACK-ON’s live rendition of Re:Start and flyaway, the theme songs from Tales of the World : Radiant Mythology 2.
With warm thanks again to MONSTERSNITE for the news, it is probably the first time the band’s live performance of any of their songs has been released as a DVD! We have seen a few standalone recordings (on Youtube) and even in the BLAZE LINE PV, but nothing like this, although some of us BOO Forum folk would love to have a dedicated DVD!
The DVD will have a Retail Price of ¥ 7,140 and a running time of approximately 240 minutes (4 hours?) . According to this post by Anoop Gantayat on AndriaSang.com :
This is a “set” in that it contains two DVDs, one each for the afternoon and evening versions of the June 14 show. Buyers can look forward to talk shows and skits, much of which differed depending on the showing. In addition, the set will include bonus promotional footage, specifics about which have yet to be shared.
I only wish that the release date wasn’t so far away, but at least we have got BACK-ON’s European debut at Connchi in Germany to look forward to in September. And before I forget – if you haven’t already heard – we are organising a GIGANTIC FANBOOK PROJECT for the band by fans. All ideas and fans are welcome so please do come and participate if you can!

Third BACK-ON – YES!!! Review by Funbari
We promised you three kindly donated fan reviews of BACK-ON’s debut full-length album YES!!! in December last year, and with thanks to Edward for the first fan review, and Sesshy for the second, I must apologise for the delay in posting this third fan review kindly written by Funbari!
She has decided to pick out some of the more distinctive songs from YES!!! to write about, and I thoroughly enjoyed reading what she had to say – I’m sure it will be the same for you too!

BACK-ON to debut in Europe at Connichi, Kassel, Germany in September 2009!
BACK-ON will be performing for the very first time in Europe this September at the Connichi anime convention in Kassel, Germany this September! Yes, this is VERY exciting news (particularly for European fans) as firstly, this will be their debut in Europe, and secondly, Connichi is the biggest Anime and Manga convention in Germany ( 13,000 visitors in 2007)!
The anime convention will run between 18-20th September 2009 at their usual venue: the gorgeous Kongress Palais Kassel (see below for photos) and BACK-ON’s live performance will be on 19th September 2009!

Although this fantastic news has already been posted for sometime on the official Connichi site, the band finally announced it today on their official website with a nifty new banner:
I know I will definitely be going (this *is* BACK-ON’s debut in Europe!) and hope to see many other BACK-ON fans there – from Europe and from other parts of the world! If you are planning to go, drop us an email or visit the Forums and let us know! Fingers crossed we can have a mini-convention of BACK-ON fans. In the meantime, stay tuned for travel information for fans heading to the convention (in English) and also more news about BACK-ON!

BACK-ON’s brand new song “We are…” features as theme song for IAMS’ TV documentary about an animal shelter presented by Kiki Sugino
With many thanks to MONSTERSNITE for this latest revelation, we can bring you news of BACK-ON’s newest song in a very long time called:
We are…
The news was also announced on the official BACK-ON.com website just earlier today, and you can listen to what appears to be the entire song (with its long instrumental introduction) by watching this preview clip uploaded by IAMSjapan (2:48) either by clicking on the link below or viewing the video at the end of the post.
So what do you think? It’s actually difficult to describe how excited I am by this fantasic news, as since January 2009, i.e. start of this year when flyaway was released as both a standard and limited edition single, BACK-ON have been surprisingly quiet even with news on their official blog, although we had brief glimpses of their occasional live performances and the interesting snapshots of their life (including ones about them working on new songs)
Rumour has it that this may be due to personal events and celebrations as well, but now that summer is here (or winter for those of you in the Southern Hemisphere) BACK-ON appear to be back on the music scene again, this time with a brand new uplifting track called ‘We are…” reminiscent of flyaway, and even tied in with an IAMS (international pet food company) TV documentary project!
The documentary was filmed at the Helen Woodward Animal Center and features Kiki Sugino (aka. Yeong-hwa Seo) as the hands-on presenter. The preview clip is – literally – teeming with kittens, so if cute, fluffy and sadly abandoned kittens living in an animal shelter are your thing, it should be worth watching the documentary in full when it is released. This means that – as appropriate for the song – BACK-ON has once again presented a wonderfully upbeat and joyful creation as the backing theme.
So no heavy riffs this time round, and as BACK-ON continue to develop their ‘pop’ style of music with a really sunny melody and Kenji03’s captivating voice, this time we get treated to quite a lot more of Teeda singing in the main verses, although he does still rap during parts of the song, it is much more evocative of BAReeeeeeeeeeN Teeda than New World Teeda.
We would love to find out what you all think of this shiny new song; the band have asked fans to try and watch the video and listen to the song where possible. It’s rather unfortunate that comments have been turned off for the video by IAMS (you can get so much feedback via Youtube comments!) so please let us know and maybe we can send them all in to BACK-ON! :)

Photos from BACK-ON’s live performance at the “Tales of Festival 2009″!
Fans of the Tales of series will probably already have seen these photos, but for everyone else, BACK-ON was the musical guest of honour (along with the female J-pop group GIRL NEXT DOOR and misono) at the annual Tales of Festival of 2009!
The festival is a celebration of the Tales of series, as well as an event for announcing forthcoming new games. This year’s festival was held on 14th June 2009 and BACK-ON were invited to perform flyaway and Re:Start, songs that most fans will know as the OP and ED (respectively) theme songs from Tales of the World : Radiant Mythology 2.
According to various reports, they wow’d the audience with their thrilling renditions of both songs: Gpara said that ‘they single handedly roused the crowd’ during their performance.
BACK-ON later invited Ito Kanae (伊藤かな恵) – Kanonno Earhart’s seiyuu – who featured in the flyaway [Tales of] remix – to join them onstage; she was too nervous to actually sing in front of the crowd.

The photos are courtesy of Gpara.com, Dengeki.com and Famitsu.com, and you can view them in full by visiting the Tales of Festival 2009 section of the Gallery.

Lyrics: Re:Start – Kanji, Romaji, Karaoke and English Translation
Our most recent post in Lyrics featuring the English translation for flyaway by Quartet4 has been very very popular with visitors (400+ have visited the page to date!) and anyone who has heard the single will no doubt agree it is one of BACK-ON’s best!
The single includes a very strong ‘B-side’ track in the form of Re:Start, the third song in both editions of the CD, which sadly does not feature in the Tales of the World: Radiant Mythology 2 game, but is – in my humble opinion – an amazing song.
As we mentioned before, finding an accurate translation is always an issue, but thankfully Quartet4 allows requests on his dedicated Forum, and has now posted the full translation online! The song is about starting over but not forgetting the memories shared with the other person. Gorgeous, as expected from Kenji03 and Teeda!
Quartet4 has kindly provided permission for us to repost the translation here, and – as we test out a new display format – you can find it below the cut with the original kanji, romaji and karaoke versions of the lyrics as well!
If you haven’t heard the song yet, visit our Music page and scroll to the end for our pop-out radio and listen to it. In the mean, I’d like to say a big thanks to Quartet4 for the translation!
